We are sorry to announce that due to increased workload it has become impossible to continue the Swaffham.net web site.
Originally it was our Saturday labour of love, then as workload increased it became our Sunday chore, now we have simply run out of days in the week. Our belief is that no web site is better than an out-of-date web site.
Ironically, this week saw the largest amount of traffic to Swaffham.net, 2,472 hits for the week, 789 of them to the Swaffham.net business index. Average hits in the last year were 1,980 per week.
Never intended as a financial interest (we leave that to the publicly-funded town web site) we have still achieved much over the years for local business. The site has also allowed us to play a small part in making the web accessible to more people, regardless of disability or equipment used.
The database system we developed to power the site is now used by town and parish councils throughout the UK and with our UKERNA approved status achieved in 2003, our work for local authorities has helped us to grow both in terms of hosting and design.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those businesses and individuals who contributed to Swaffham.net over the years.
In particular we would like to thank visitors from around the world, especially those who took the time to write to us.
My personal thanks go to Venita who has put in many hours of her own time trying to keep up with updates.
All Swaffham.net ISP services such as email and mini-sites will continue to work and form part of our long-term commitments.
Thank you
Nigel Hawketts
